Head Coach - Cedric Anen
Cedric Anen brings over 16 years as a competitive fencer as well as 12 years as a member of the Luxembourg National Team to Caltech's fencing program. He has had numerous national and International successes, placing 8th at the Junior World Championships in 1998, 9th at the European Championships in 2001. and being ranked in the Top 40 in the World in Men's Foil. Cedric joined the Caltech Fencing Club Team in 2001, and has represented Caltech in numerous local and national competitions. He helped the men's foil (club team) to win 1 gold and 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the Pacific Coast Fencing Championships. He has also served as an assistant coach with the Caltech NCAA Fencing team in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
Cedric Anen has the experience and understanding of what it is to be both a scientist and an athletic. "We are very fortunate to have someone of Cedric's caliber and character as the helm of our fencing progrqam" commented Wendell Jack, Director of Athletics. Cedric holds two bachelor's degrees, one in computer science and one in mathematics, as well as an engineering degree in electrical engineering. After completing his master's in Electrical Engineering in 2003, he is currently working on a PhD in the same field. Throughout his career he has continued to fence at the National and International levels while balancing his studies with competitve fencing.
