The Caltech Men's Soccer team lost two SCIAC matches this past week to visiting teams from the University of La Verne and Cal Lutheran University.

Men's Soccer loses to La Verne, Cal Lutheran

The Men's Soccer team suffered two tough losses this past week, losing to La Verne by a final score of 7-1 on Wednesday, and following it up with a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of Cal Lutheran.

Sophomore Forward Sanjeeb Bose scored his second goal of the season to put Caltech ahead 1-0 just 2 and a half minutes into the La Verne match. But La Verne responded with seven straight goals, thus ending Caltech's bid for an upset.

Freshman Goalkeeper Elliott Pallett had 11 saves between the two matches, averaging 5.5 saves a contest.

The team plays its next match this Wednesday at home against Whittier College. Caltech defeated Whittier 1-0 earlier this season. The match starts at 4:00 PM. Weekly Update: 10/11/04
Men's Soccer loses close match to Occidental; Pallett dominates

The Men's Soccer narrowly lost to Occidental College on Wednesday, losing 2-0 despite some brilliant goalkeeping by Freshman Elliott Pallett, who had 17 saves against just those 2 goals.

Against Pomona-Pitzer, the team struggled. After holding the Sagehens to two goals in the first half, Pomona-Pitzer came roaring back in the second half with seven goals, leading to a 9-0 Caltech defeat. Pallett was again a bright spot for Caltech, however, with an amazing 15 save performance. That kept the game close until midway through the second half.

The team's next match comes this Wednesday at home against La Verne at 4:00 PM.

2003 Season Review
As part of its wrap-up to the 2003 campaign, the Men's Soccer team is proud to announce its annual team awards. Senior Defender Justin White was awarded the Sportsmanship award, while Freshman Forward Meghan Crowley, who started 10 games as a true Freshman and was one of two female players on the Men's team, received the Coach's Award. Junior Goalkeeper Isaac Gremmer finished the year averaging an impressive 7.6 saves a game. Senior Midfielder Jonathan Simon, who had already been named to CoSIDA Academic All-Region team, was named Most Inspiration Player by the team. Congratulations to all the Beavers.
