The Beavers Pone the University of Biola Eagles!

3/02/07
Without THE Michael Chang in Biola's line up the Eagles came up one short against the Caltech Beavers Friday afternoon. Caltech won a nail-bitting 5-4 match. The match was tied at 4-4 and Caltech's #2, Sophomore Harish Vasudevan (Sugar Land, TX), was still on court competing. In the first set Vasudevan was 4-1 down and looked in trouble but came back to win 5 straight games and the set. Vasudevan continued attaching his opponents backhand and coming into the net in the second set to and eventually win the match 6-4, 6-4 to give the Beavers their second win of the season. The Beavers will take a break from match play to complete their final examinations but will be back on Saturday, March 17th to face Colorado College.

Men's Tennis Heats Up!
2/4/07 - On a bright and sunny day where temperatures tipped the 80's the Beavers scorched the visiting La Sierra Golden Eagles 6-3. Caltech dominated early with 5 singles wins that clinched the match before doubles play began. Co-Team Captain, Vivek Narsimhan (West Lafayette, IN) said, "I don't think we've ever won this emphatically." Sophomore, Eric Tai (Fremont, CA) playing in his first singles match got the double bagel at #6 and Sophomore, Ilia Shadrin (Torrance, CA) served up another double bagel to the Golden Eagles at #5. Veteran players and Co-Captains, Narsimhan and Justin Lazear (Phoenix, AZ) turned in solid performances in the #2 and #4 spots. In doubles Frosh, Ram Kandasamy and Amir Ali teamed up to play their first match as Beavers at #3 and earned Caltech's sole doubles point 8-2. This was a convincing win for the young squad which has no seniors on the team.
Next up for the Beavers is the SCIAC season opener against Occidental College at Caltech on Saturday, February 10th at 9:30AM.
