Head Coach Clint Dodd
The 2006-07 school year will mark Clint Dodd's 27th season on the
Caltech campus. Upon arriving in Pasadena in December 1979,
Dodd took over the helm of the men's and women's swimming programs.
The following fall, he assumed head coaching duties for the men's
water polo team and this fall took on the role as head coach for
women's water polo. Dodd attended Humboldt State University, where
he played water polo and learned springboard diving under NCAA champion
Frank Logan. After receiving his B.S. in Biology and Physical
Education in 1977, he was selected to play water polo on a team
touring Australia, New Zealand, Venezuela and Hawaii. He returned
to the U.S., teaching at Downey (Calif.) High School and Cal State
Los Angeles prior to graduate studies from Cal State Los Angeles.
Dodd's one-year tenure at Downey
High was a return to his alma mater, where he led the water polo team to the
1972 CIF Championship. Following graduation from CSULA, Dodd began to
co-coach at SCIAC-rival Whittier, prior to his appointment at Caltech a few months later.
In addition to his coaching duties, Dodd teaches swimming and diving courses
as well as scuba classes at Caltech. He also serves as a consultant
with a company in Palau, Micronesia, working on specimen collection for
the U.S. Department of Health in the effort to help find a cure for cancer
and AIDS. Dodd and his wife, Susie, have two children, Hanna and Emma.
