Women’s Volleyball wins first game of the season vs. La Sierra
The Caltech Women’s Volleyball team won its first game of the season in Game 2 of their best-of-five match with La Sierra University on Tuesday night. Caltech eventually lost the match, 3-1 (30-27, 25-30, 30-24, 30-19) but they were competitive throughout, hitting a season-best .195.
Junior Rebecca Streit led the team with 17 kills and three service aces. Her .389 hitting percentage was best on the team, and her 14 digs trailed only her sister, Elisabeth.
Senior Middleblocker Colleen Moody had season-highs in kills (13), blocks (five) and points (18).
Junior Elisabeth Streit was right behind her sister with 12 kills and a team-leading 16 digs.
Sophomore Setter Sarah Stidham had a season-high 41 assists.
For the season, Rebecca Streit remains just ahead of her sister in kills and service aces, while Elisabeth holds the edge in digs.
The team plays its next match Friday night at Occidental. Their next home match is Friday, October 28th, also against Occidental. Both matches begin at 7:30 PM.

Women’s Volleyball begins new era under Head Coach Robert Orantes
The Caltech Women’s Volleyball team began a new era this month under Head Coach Robert Orantes. Despite starting a 0-5, the program continues to show signs of growth.
Senior Middle blocker Colleen Moody has made the most out of her return to the team, leading the squad in kills, blocks and hitting-percentage.
Junior sisters Elisabeth and Rebecca Streit once again hold down the Outside Hitter spots in the lineup. Rebecca leads the team in service aces and digs, while Elisabeth is second on the team in kills and digs.
Sophomore Setter Sarah Stidham leads the team in assists with 46 and is third on the team in digs.
Middle blocker Marie Giron has been the top Freshman so far. She leads the team in fourth on the team in kills and second in service aces.
The team plays its next two matches at home: Friday night (Sept. 30), the team plays Cal Lutheran. On Tuesday night (Oct. 4), the team plays Pomona-Pitzer. Both matches begin at 7:30 PM.

Women's Volleyball opens season with loss to La Sierra
The 2005 Caltech Women's Volleyball team opened its season with a 0-3 loss
at La Sierra University on Tuesday. The new team struggled in the first game, losing 5-30, but played far
better in games 2 and 3 with scores of 20-30 and 15-30. It was the first match for first-year Head Coach
Bob Orantes. The team hosts its home opener this Friday against Redlands. The match begins at 7:30 PM.

Women's Volleyball finishes season
The Women's Volleyball team finished its season this past week with losses on the road at Whittier College and Redlands.
As she has all season, Sophomore Outside Hitter Rebecca Streit was the top performer on the team, accumulating 18 kills and 16 digs to lead the way.
Senior Middle Blocker Delia Davies also played well, with seven kills, three blocks, nine digs and a service ace to close out her Caltech career. Sophomore Elisabeth Streit had six kills, three service aces, one block and 20 digs. Freshman Setter Sarah Stidham completed a fine first year campaign with 30 assists and 14 digs.
The team finishes with an overall record of 7-19. Congratulations to the whole team on the conclusion of their season.

Women's Volleyball wins first SCIAC game of the season; R. Streit leads offense
Caltech's Women's Volleyball team picked up its first win in a SCIAC game of the season this past Saturday, winning the second game of their match against the University of Redlands, 30-25, before losing the match, three games to one.
Sophomore Outside Hitter Rebecca Streit lead the team with 10 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Setter Sarah Stidham had 26 assists.
It is the first win in a SCIAC game since the team took a point from Redlands last season, a year and two days before Saturday's match.
Earlier in the week, the team suffered sweeps at the hands of Whittier College of the SCIAC and visiting Benedictine University from Illinois.
For the week, Streit lead the team in kills and in kill-percentage. She was second on the team in blocks and service aces, and third in digs. Senior Outside Hitter Kristen Zortman and Senior Middle Blocker Delia Davies were tied for second on the team in kills and first in blocks. Streit's twin sister, Outside Hitter Elizabeth Streit, lead the team in service aces.
The team takes a break from its SCIAC Conference schedule this week, and will play Life Pacific College Tuesday night at the Braun Gym. The match begins at 7:30 PM.

Women's Volleyball hangs tough, but falls to La Verne and Claremont M-S
The Women's Volleyball team played two SCIAC opponents this past week, losing to each
in three straight games. Against La Verne, one of the top teams in the nation, Senior
Kristen Zortman and Sophomore Rebecca Streit lead the way with five kills apiece.
Against Claremont M-S, Senior Middle Blocker Delia Rosca had 7 kills. The team plays next
Tuesday night at Cal Lutheran.

2003 Season Review
The Women's Volleyball team fought through a tough season in 2003.
The Beavers held a Seniors Night at their final home match against
Redlands where departing Senior Liberos Janet Zhou and Sarah Horst
and Setters Rebecca Flint and Megan Kennedy were all honored by Head
Coach Brent Reger in a pre-match ceremony. Kennedy, who will leave
the program as a four-year starter and three-time MVP, holds the team
records for most assists in a season and a career. For the 2003 campaign,
Kennedy had 635 assists in 108 games, a 5.88 average. She also lead
the team with 73 service aces. Other top performers were Junior Colleen
Moody, who lead the team with 191 kills and 283 points, and Junior
Outside Hitter Delia Rosca, who finished with 149 kills and 229.0
points. Congratulations to the whole team on a successful season.
