Women’s Water Polo : Sharon scores two goals against Redlands
Sophomore Chelsea Sharon scored two goals for Women’s Water Polo this past Saturday against the University of Redlands, the #1 team in the country.
Sharon scored both of Caltech’s goals in a 2-17 loss. Senior Delia Davies had eight blocks and five steals.
Sharon is third on the team in scoring with 12 goals. Her nine assists are a team high.
Earlier in the week, the team lost to Pomona-Pitzer, 1-11. Davies had six blocks and three steals in that match. Senior Beth Dorman had the only goal for Caltech. Senior Natalie Kruk had three steals.
The team plays its next match this Wednesday at Occidental College. Their home finale is this Saturday against La Verne.

Davies reaches 146 blocks for Women’s Water Polo; Sinha, Dorman each with 17 goals
Despite losing two matches this past week, the Caltech Women’s Water Polo team continues to have a number of outstanding performances from several of its players.
Senior Delia Davies picked up another 14 blocks in losses to Whittier (4-14) and Claremont Mudd-Scripps (1-14) bringing her season total to 146 blocks; an average of 7.3 blocks per match. Davies is also second on the team in steals with 33.
Senior Beth Dorman had three goals and Sophomore Preetha Sinha had two more to tie for the team’s lead in scoring with 17 goals each.
Sinha also leads the team in steals (34) and ejections drawn (18). Dorman is second on the team in assists (7) and ejections drawn (16).
Sophomore Chelsea Sharon leads the team in assists with eight. She’s also the team’s third leading scorer with ten goals.
The team has four regular season matches left before the SCIAC Conference Championships April 29th to May 1st. Their next match is this Wednesday on the road at Pomona-Pitzer. Their final home match comes April 23rd against the University of La Verne.

Women’s Water Polo: Dorman leads near-upset of Air Force
The Women’s Water Polo team took a heart-breaking 6-8 loss to visiting Air Force Academy this past Saturday at the Braun pool. Senior Beth Dorman had two goals, three steals and an assist in taking Caltech to a 3-2 halftime lead. But a five goal third period for Air Force had Caltech playing from behind most of the second half, just barely falling short. Senior Goalkeeper Delia Davies had nine blocks in the loss.
Earlier, the team lost to Cal Lutheran, 1-16.
The team plays next this Wednesday as it host Whittier College.

Women's Water Polo overcomes weather; hosts Caltech Classic
The Caltech Women's Water Polo team hosted its annual Caltech Classic this past Tuesday with teams from Washington & Jefferson, Macalester College, Chapman University, Occidental College, St. Francis and the University of La Verne all attending.
Despite unhelpful weather which led to some delays, they event was a success for the Women's Water Polo program., as teams from all over the country had the opportunity to play each other.
In their first match, Caltech lost a heart-breaking 7-6 match to Macalester College in sudden-death triple-overtime. Sophomore Preetha Sinha had two goals and four steals to lead Caltech.
In their second match, Caltech fell to Washington & Jefferson, 11-3. Sinha and Seniors Beth Dorman and Natalie Kruk each managed to score goals against an impressive W&J defense. Senior Goalkeeper Delia Davies had seven blocks and four steals.
For the season, Sinha continues to lead the team in scoring with 13 goals. She also leads the team in steals (26) and errors drawn (16).
Davies has been extremely impressive in goal, with 108 blocks on the season. She also second on the team in steals with 25.
Senior Beth Dorman's totals include 11 goals, 15 steal, five assists and ten errors-drawn.
The team plays next this Wednesday at Chapman University. Their next home match is this Saturday against Cal Lutheran. The match begins at 10:00 AM.

Women's Water Polo picks up first win at Claremont Tournament
The Caltech Women's Water Polo team posted its first win of the season this past weekend at the Claremont Mudd-Scripps Invitational.
The team won a hard-fought 8-6 victory over Macalester College. Senior Team Captain Delia Davies had nine blocks. Sophomores Preetha Sinha and Chelsea Sharon each had three goals.
Caltech's other three matches in the Tournament included a 1-9 loss to Cal Baptist, a 4-14 loss to George Washington and a 7-17 loss to Colorado State.
Davies' 94 blocks on the season place her in the top 20 in the country in blocks per match.
Sophomore Preetha Sinha has taken over as the team's leading scorer with 11 goals. Sinha also leads the team in steals with 21 and ejections drawn with 11.
Senior Beth Dorman is second on the team in scoring with nine goals and is third on the team in steals with 11.
The team hosts the 2005 Caltech Classic this Tuesday, March 22nd, with six other schools participating. Their matches will be at 10:10 AM against Macalester and at 3:00 PM against Washington & Jefferson.

Women's Water Polo Recap: Davies potent in goal
Despite starting the season a tough 0-9, the Caltech Women's Water
Polo team has had a number of bright spots, including Senior Goalkeeper
Delia Davies.
In 36 quarters of defending the goal for Caltech, Davies has accumulated
an impressive 60 blocks and 17 steals, both team highs.
Junior Bekah Eason has led Caltech's offense with five goals and
three assists. Eason is third on the team in steals with six. Eason
and Davies are co-Team Captains for the Women's Water Polo team.
Senior Beth Dorman is second on the team in scoring with four goals
and three assists.
Sophomore Preetha Sinha has been strong for Caltech both on offense
and defense, with three goals, three assists and 14 steals. Sinha
also leads the team in errors drawn with 11.
Sophomore Chelsea Sharon has three goals, five steals and eight
errors drawn to her credit.
The team plays next March 19-20 at the Claremont Invitational.
Their next home matches come at their own Invitational, Tuesday,
March 22nd.

Women's Water Polo opens season at Chapman Invitational
The Caltech Women's Water Polo team opened its season this past weekend at the 2005 Chapman Invitational.
Against some tough competition from Top 10 Division III teams and some Division I club teams, the team started the season 0-4, losing matches to USC (1-11), Whittier (3-17), UC Davis (2-11) and the University of Oregon (3-15).
Junior Bekah Eason led the team in scoring with four goals. Eason finished third on the team in scoring last season.
Senior Goalkeeper Delia Davies held tough despite facing several tough offenses. She recorded 36 blocks through four matches.
The team will visit UC Santa Cruz this Friday before playing in the CSU East Bay Tournament this weekend. Their first home match will be at the Caltech Classic on March 22nd.
2005 Season Preview
The Women's Water Polo team begins its second seaon under Head Coach
Calla Allison. The team boasts several top returners from last season,
including Junior Ashley Grant, who lead the team last year in scoring
with 56 goals, and Junior Goalkeeper Delia Rosca finished the 2004
season with 264 blocks. Junior Preetha Sinha lead the team in steals
with 51. With new Freshmen coming in, the program has high hopes for
their 2005 season.
2003 Season Review
The Women's Water Polo team had an excellent first season under first-year
Head Coach Calla Allison. Senior Jacki Wilbur finished her career
as this season's MVP. Sophomore Ashley Grant lead the team in scoring
with 56 goals for the season. Junior Goalkeeper Delia Rosca finished
the season with 264 blocks. Sophomore Preetha Sinha lead the team
in steals with 51. Congratulations to the whole team on an outstanding
season.
